TikTok's Strategic Influence on Political Communication and Campaigns

During my undergraduate studies, I embarked on a research journey that delved into the intersection of social media and politics. TikTok was first known as a platform for young users who created dancing and lip-syncing videos, but it evolved into a platform where people of all ages express themselves and their beliefs. Politics-related videos quickly became a popular trend, with political views and discourse having a wider reach. This study aimed to understand how these videos framed the 2020 presidential candidates and further investigate the influence of the social media app. This research project included a qualitative analysis component, providing valuable perspectives on the political and social media realm.
